There are several ways of participating in MCF’s dynamic and collegial community. All Smithsonian staff members are welcome to attend our programs, which are held several times a year free of charge. If you would like to volunteer to help at MCF events or serve on the Steering Committee, please feel free to contact any committee member.
Do you have an idea for a great MCF topic? Let us know! Please include a one-paragraph summary of the program, explaining why you feel it is important and timely. Include a preliminary list of suggested speakers, a possible venue, and preferred dates (such as an upcoming anniversary or event launch).
What kinds of topics are we looking for?
- Multifaceted in nature, relating to a range of disciplines and perspectives
- Reflective of the Smithsonian’s wide-ranging collections, research, and exhibits
- Of potential interest to participants and audience members from a variety of Smithsonian units, as well as non-Smithsonian subject-matter experts and members of the public
For more inspiration, check out our Past Programs.
If your ideas have developed further, please consider submitting a prospectus of no more than two pages that describes the proposed program, key participants, presentation approach (one presenter or multiple presenters with a moderator), objectives/goals of the program, and associated logistical needs (e.g., AV support, temporary displays related to the program, guided tours of program-related collections/exhibitions, program-related workshops and demonstrations, etc.).
Whether it’s a fully-fledged prospectus or just a great idea, please email your submissions to the MCF Steering Committee co-chairs.
